According to Oricon News, the second remake movie of Evangelion, “Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0″ will be premiered in the early summer 2009. The first remake movie “Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0″ was shown in September 2007. It earned 2 billion yen (about $19 million) from the theater performances and 600,000 copies of the DVD were sold to date.

GAINAX Abandons The Copyright of Evangelion?
The trademark of GAINAX was erased from the copyright indications of “Neon Genesis Evangelion” and “Rebuild of Evangelion”. The previous copyright indications were “GAINAX and Khara” (for the original Evangelion) and “Khara and GAINAX” (for the Rebuild of Evangelion), but the new one shows “Khara” only for both the TV series and the movies. Khara is an anime production and organization company established by Anno, Hideaki, the director of Evangelion series and the former employee of GAINAX. GAINAX refused to explain the reason of the copyright change in the reply to the e-mail sent by an Eva fan.

Premiere Date of 2.0 and Blu-ray of 1.0
“Rebuild of Evangelion: 2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE” will be premiered on June 27th.
A new edition of Blu-ray and DVD of “Rebuild of Evangelion: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE” will be released on May 27th. This edition called “1.11” has some newly inserted scenes.
