A cosplay competition that was being held at a park (Flower Center, Heidi’s Village) in Yamanashi Prefecture was suspended. The reason was due to an elderly visitor who complained that the participants who had dressed up depreciated the flowers that were on display. The cosplayers were given a warning for stepping on flower beds.
The park is very popular with young people because of the cosplay competitions, which are held many times a year.
Since the park is owned by the prefectural government, they are asking the park wardens to look into the incident to see whether or not the event should be restored.
This is not the first time a complaint has been made against the cosplay events. Last summer an elderly woman called the agricultural policy planning department to ask why the event (that attracts young people) was held at a place where people of all ages go to enjoy the flowers.
