According to the report of Japan Video Software Association (JVA), the total sales of the anime DVD and Blu-ray in the first half of fiscal year 2009 increased by 2.3% compared to those of the last year.

Last year, the anime DVD+Blu-ray sales decreased by 12% and the market has been having a pessimistic prospect for the industry. Anime!Anime! attributed the growth in the sales to the steep expansion of the Blu-ray market and the relatively high price of the Blu-ray media.
