Dr. Tamabechi announced in his blog that the e-mail he received turned out to be a fake. Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS) looked into the case immediately after the news was reported by the mass media and confirmed no one sent such an e-mail.

Tamabechi Hideo, the developer of KeyHoleTV and the CEO of Cognitive Research Labo, announced in his blog that he received a warning from the association of Japanese TV companies. They demanded immediate cease of the illegal streamings. Dr. Tamabechi stressed that the users are allowed to stream their own material and asked them to stop infringing copyrights.
KeyHoleTV is a free software for a P2P broadcasting. It was developed by Tamabechi Hideo and Cognitive Research Labo to conduct an experiment under the command of Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The experiment was finished in 2007 but the system itself remains functioning. KeyHoleTV is often illegally used for the streaming of Japanese TV programs including anime.
