According to Nikkei newspaper, a house known as “Totoro’s house” was burnt down on February 14th. Police reportedly suspect arson. Miyazaki Hayao praised the house in his book “Totoro no Sumu Ie” in 1991 and the local authority decided to preserve it as a public park.
