According to Cinema Today, the two-week boxoffice income of Karigurashi no Arrietty (The Secret World of Arriety) in North America reached $15.2 million on March 3rd. It surpassed Ponyo’s record of $15 million in 2009 and established the new boxoffice record for Studio Ghibli’s films shown in North America.
Ghibli’s other film Kokurikozaka Kara has won the 35th Japan Academy Prize Award for Best Animation Film. K-On! Movie was selected as one of the Excellent Animation Films along with Detective Conan Movie 15: Quarter of Silence.
