According to Oricon News, the sales of anime DVD & Blu-ray in Japan have dropped 8% in the first half of 2011, compared with the year-earlier period. Oricon attributed the decrease to the lack of big hit titles comparable to Evangelion: 2.22 released in May 2010.

The anime Blu-ray sales rose 22.8%, while the anime DVD sales fell 24.4% in H1 2011. The anime Blu-ray made up 57.2% of the whole Blu-ray media sales.
