This morning, at the midwinter conference of the American Library Association in Denver, Nahoko Uehashi’s Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, the first novel in her popular series of fantasy novels, won the Mildred L. Batchelder Award for outstanding translated work. The winning novel was adapted into a 26 episode television series that aired in Japan in the spring of 2007 and was later broadcast as part of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim late night programming block. It was pulled from their lineup earlier this month.
