According to Publishers Weekly, VIZ Media has laid off about 40% of their employees, 55 people at San Fransisco Headquarters and 5 in New York office, which has been closed down.
The percentage of the cut down of VIZ Media staff surpasses the shrinkage of the US manga market. Anime!Anime! inferred VIZ Media’s pessimistic prospect for the industry.
