During an interview with the Associated Press, the creator of Afro Samurai, Takashi Okazaki, confirmed a sequel to the 5 episode series is in production now. According to Okazaki, the storyline of the new series will closely follow the end of the first series. Having finally slayed Justice at the end of series one, Afro “loses his way, gets tired of all the killing,” Okazaki said. The series then follows Afro as he finally “wakes up to his destiny, which is to be the world’s No. 1 warrior.” This will also feature a new alluring female warrior as an opponent for Afro.
The next series will be shown on Spike TV early 2008.
In slightly different news, a video game based on the animation is set for release on Xbox 360 in December.
