Walt Disney will premiere “Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on a Cliff)” in US on August 14th. This is the fourth time for Studio Ghibli’s films to be shown nationwidely in US.
Despite its popularity, Ghibli films have never been a big hit in US. Even the most successful title. “Spirited Away” only earned $10 million, which was 30 times smaller than its income in Japan.
